CCC receives support from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation

 
The board of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation has approved a 2-year grant totaling $50,000 to Chicago Collections Consortium (CCC). The grant will support general operations and acknowledges CCC’s participation on the Broadening Narratives advisory group. CCC, along with the College of Charleston’s Lowcountry Digital Library, Southeastern Museums Conference, Black Metropolis Research Consortium, and the Chicago Cultural Alliance, assisted with the formation of the Broadening Narratives Funding Initiative. The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation’s groundbreaking “Broadening Narratives” initiative, aims to fund specific collections projects that bring forward underrepresented stories.

The second round of organizations to receive the Broadening Narratives grant funding are projects collectively illuminating BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ perspectives, working-class narratives, small community experiences, as well as other underrepresented groups and viewpoints. The eight Chicago-based organizations included CCC members Bronzeville Black Chicagoan Historical Society, Chicago History Museum, ​and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance. Funding was also granted to the Chicago Public Art Group, Lewis University, Muslim American Leadership Alliance, South Side Community Art Center, and Trickster Cultural Center.
